Saying ‘I do’ — again

ImageImageShe has a slightly shy exterior, and he has a warm smile that is sometimes mischievous. But take a good look at these kind souls, for they understand a concept that most of us can’t.


That’s their number.

Fifty years ago, they each said “I do” for the first time. Since then, they’ve embraced their vows, the meaning of marriage, parenthood and the joys of grandparenting. They’ve loved those fifty years so much that they just decided to do it again — wedding gown, steeple and all.

Last weekend, I photographed their traditional ceremony to renew their vows and celebrate the first time they committed their lives to one another. Congratulations; may we all learn to love in that amazingly timeless way.
