A cozy tent filled with grandma quilts and good reads. Sand dunes and the sea. My sweet pooch romping in the waves. Misty mornings. Cows on the doorstep. Thieving skunks who break into the ice chest to steal salami and a whole pound of deli turkey. Retro campers and a boat graveyard. Empty pier and friendly seagulls. A campground to ourselves. Story swapping with strangers on the beach. Spaghetti squash and pesto. Getting away. Highway 1 escapades. Taking a dear friend on her first camping trip, ever.
With summer on its way out and life in full swing, my friend Cindy and I decided to load up the car and hit the beach for a few days of camping. It was extra special because it was Cindy’s first camping trip, complete with a tent, her first campfire s’mores and all. She’s a natural camper, who doesn’t mind brushing her teeth in the great outdoors or waking up in middle of the night to roaming cows chomping loudly outside our tent.
Here’s a little look at our trip …
