Five Senses Monday

Hola amigos. What a weekend — sunny and perfect on the west and absolutely crazy with Hurricane Irene on the east.

This weekend was a fun one, full of laughs, friends and food.

Here’s a snippet of how it went down, through the five senses. Do your own Five Senses Monday in the comments or on your own blog.

Tasting:
Tons of fresh and flavorful foods at a garden harvest party. A few of us got together and made dinner out of all the goodies from our gardens — my favorite way of eating. Our dinner table was full of: a four-cucumber vinegar salad; two different caprese salads; homemade pesto and tortellini; melons and blackberries; spicy bean and corn salad; grilled British Columbia-caught salmon with lemon garlic butter (yum!); salami and cheese appetizers; and a fresh apple crumble. It was all so tasty.

Hearing:
Kathy, Kathy Kathy! My wonderful friend Cindy got us tickets to see the hilarious Kathy Griffin Friday night. She was so flipping funny and down to earth!  Thank you, C!

Feeling:
A refreshingly cold pool.

Smelling:
Sunblock and baking apples.

Seeing:
More than I needed to. For a story I’m working on, I had to go to the nearby nudist colony. Let’s just say, I’m not as free as those friendly peeps.
