One day last week, I perused Old Town Sacramento by myself. It’s such a charming little area with its tourist-luring storefronts, brick roadways and horse-drawn carriages. I found a few trinkets at the eclectic Evangeline’s, and took just a few photos of the wandering hour.
It was the start of a weekend filled with dinners with friends, hours in the sunshine and a slight glimpse at the Super Bowl game.
And now, it’s time for Five Senses Monday, where I reflect on the last few days through the senses. Play along!
Smelling:
That summer smell of grilling burgers in the air during yesterday’s Super Bowl kick-off. Onions, mushrooms and garlic sizzling in the kitchen.
Feeling:
That deep sleep you get when you fall asleep on the couch with the lights and TV on.
Hearing:
My family coughing with the awful flu that’s knocking everyone out.
Seeing:
A bright afternoon on a Friday afternoon in Old Town Sacramento.
Tasting:
Soups and chilis. Crusty bread and honey butter. Maple syrup on a diner waffle.

Must re-visit Old Sac. It’s been entirely too long! An unaccompanied wander is sometimes one of the best!
