Hello, friends. I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday and long weekend with friends and family. Did you lounge? Did you shop ’til you dropped? Did you go away?
I did do lounging. I didn’t really shop. But I did get away for a night in Reno. Friends and I boarded the California Zephyr train in Sacramento, and traveled through some of the most beautiful scenery in California. I’ll share more about this trip tomorrow, but I just wanted to stop in and say hello and welcome you back to reality after a long weekend.
And now, it’s time for Five Senses Friday, where I reflect on the last few days through the five senses. Play along in the comments or on your own blog.
Seeing:
Rusted golden leaves zooming past my window on the train. White snow on the tracks. All the lights twinkling on a lively street in Reno.
Tasting:
Celebratory train-ride mimosas. Two words: casino buffet.
Hearing:
Dueling pianists singing and playing our favorites, and making us laugh.
Feeling:
Blessed to live in such a beautiful state. The weight of a $140,000 diamond on my finger at a Reno pawn shop (I liked the funkier costume jewelry more).
Smelling:
That welcomed aroma of hot coffee after a very long and fun day and night.
