It’s that light. It gets me every time. Those orange and lavender stripes that shine in the east just before the sky turns golden. I love how it can turn anything into a silhouette, and I love the long shadows that come with it. It makes being an early riser all worth it. I’ve been spending a lot of time at my aunt’s house lately, where one of my favorite parts of the days are morning chores. Feeding the chickens, filling the water bowls, watering the strawberries, letting the donkeys out — all while being wrapped up in that light.
Here’s a tiny glimpse into these mornings I really love.

And an update on my dad: Thanks again, everyone, for you concern and your prayers. They are heartfelt. He is still in the hospital, but feeling and looking so much better than when he was admitted a week ago. Though they haven’t found cancer cells, doctors said today that there are still results out that keep them from saying he’s cancer free. Now, we are focusing on strengthening his heart and lungs so he can leave the hospital and begin a healthy new lifestyle. Thanks again. xo, L.
