Bring it on — summer, that is

Howdy all. This week was super busy because it was my last week of school. Hooray, no more night classes! I love that I can say I’m on summer vacation, though I still work full time. Now I don’t know what I’m going to do with all of my open Monday and Wednesday nights and homework-free weekends. I have to admit, though, that I was a little sad to drive away from campus for the last time. Going back to school was something I decided I was going to do because I needed a goal and life change to work toward, but the thing that represented all of that ended with me turning in final portfolios. On to the next thing, I suppose . . .

This weekend is my first free weekend since January, when I started taking Shakespeare and writing classes. I’m going to spend my Saturday with a great photographer friend who’s letting me tag along on a wedding shoot that I’m super excited about. I get to be the second shooter so I’ll be able to to test my skills (or lack of, actually) lenses, lights and camera settings. The ceremony is at a Catholic Church that I hope is really big and gaudy. The best part will be the reception in an old turkey barn with dirt floors, where hopefully people will get jiggy with the live mariachi band. Let’s just pray I don’t break anything or sweat to death as we’re supposed to have our first triple-digit day of the year.
